I am sorry Bruce Filardi finds it prudent and necessary to pull Flight Lines
from Bulletin publication due to the opinions expressed in this thread.
Considering the number of quotations from Iris-Talk which have appeared in
previous issues it would seem obvious to any contributors who were AIS members
and/or Bulletin readers that statements, opinions, informaton and wry comments
could or might be quoted in the publication. It would seem prudent of the
writers to write in such a manner that such quotation would neither be an
embarrasment nor an offense, and to realize such publication were an automatic
potential. .
What's the issue? Isn't this whole thing really pretty trivial, and
ultimately to the detriment of iris hybridizing, growing and enjoying? Why
spoil the fun? Unless any of the contributors were planning on
self-publishing a Wilma Vallette type book the words set down here have little
enduring significance, value or importance. We're just learning from each
other and having fun. Why the fuss? I've enjoyed Flight Lines enormously in
the past and feel substantial dismay the grumbles here have ruined what was of
considerable value to me.
"After all, it's just a flower" to paraphrase Ellen G's quote of one who
withdrew from participation in Iris-1 over some previous hoo-raw.
In dismay,
