I disagree. Most of us play in the dirt and have dirt under our fingernails
and didn't join this list as a scholarly endeavor. We are not supposed to 'play
school' here and use stilted language or try to prove something to somebody.
Also, there are various levels of education and expertise represented here,
and to require all to write as if they were to get a grade on their compositions would
have even more of us go into lurkdom.
Relax and have fun and learn a little about iris and have no fear of the
grammar patrol. Misspell a few words, split an infivitive, and let your participles
dangle and have a good time in doing so.
