In order to aid editors and webmasters for all iris publications, we have
established a new Yahoogroups forum. The objective is to enable a flow of
information and exchange of resources and contacts so we don't have to "go it
alone"! Many of us have the good fortune to have "editor buddies" to give
advice but we all feel that we are either "re-inventing the wheel" or very
often "spinning our wheels" getting interesting and pertinent material for
the publication we are working on. A forum like Yahoogroups allows the posts
to be archived so information on articles, contacts and issues can be
available to all those who need the info instead of wearing out our welcome
with "our buddies".
Editors/Webmasters are a tenacious lot - work for fun (that means mostly
FREE), spend lots of time soliciting interesting articles (that means whining
sometimes), balance needs of readers, budget and board members as to content
and cost (that means taking the grief for a less than stellar publication).
I personally think that if we can collectively share ideas of "what works"
it will be an advantage for all.
Iris publications and websites are very important to all Iris related groups
- most AIS Regions have a publication - either Bulletin or newsletter, all
AIS Sections have one and many local affiliates produce a newsletter.
Quality publications are THE most important aspect of soliciting/maintaining
membership in any Society!
This is not a forum to discuss iris topics - only iris publications and
websites! By its very purpose, it will have a "restricted" membership (which
means subscriptions will have to be approved). Please subscribe if you are
involved with an iris
publication. Any questions, contact me at:GormleyGreenery@aol.com
We urge all of you to pass this forum information on to the Editor of your
National, Regional, Local publication and ask them to join us in efficiently
sharing the wealth of information.
