Mike, you don't say, but my interpretation of this sentence is that you DID
NOT fertilize the irises? When I first started collecting information on
irises, I ran across information which stated that the best way to fertilize iris
was to side dress. The fertilizer should not be within 8 inches of the
rhizome. When I grew in rows, and followed this advice it seemed to work quite well.
If you did not fertilize the irises, this would have been the affect you
saw?? Is this what you were describing?
