RE: Re: COMP: Iris database

Hi,

This is going to be the last post I make on the list about the database for
a while.

I have corrected a few things that were little things that really bugged me.
Ten minutes at a time I wanted to get this updated so everyone would have a
good copy.

Version 2.3 includes:

Three location fields
The list reports includes acedning and decending sorting by
	Location beds (but not by row or position);
	Name;
	Category;
	Bloom Date;
	ID

All of these sorts have accompaning reports.

Also there are labels that you can print off. These labels are Avery 5260 =
2 5/8" x 1" It's the most common label type that they have.

Before you download it, please ensure you have a tool as mentioned in one of
the earlier posts.

When you unzip the information it will be in a folder that you can rename.
You may also rename the main database which looks like a file folder it is
currently named Irises2_3.EXE . You can rename the Irises2_3 - if you
rename the any of the other files it may not work for you. The other files
are so you do not have to buy a full version of the software. This is what
developers call a run-time version. All the necessary components to run the
file are there, but no alteration to the code or layouts can be made - only
the normal functionality for end user is available. It is unalterable from
a code - the source code is what the developer (myself) maintains.

The first time you open it up, it will take a bit of time to open as it must
make the necessary associations on your computer. Do not worry if it takes
a minute or two. This is totally dependent upon your machine and how fast
the processor and RAM that you have on your computer.

I'm very satisfied with this version as the reports are comprehensive and
previously they were not all accessible. This revision added just a few
buttons and a a couple of fields and a little bit of organizing. Normally I
would have been able to do this in a couple hours, but with the flu it was
working 10 - 15 minutes at a time and then laying down. This was good
actually because when I got back to it I saw a couple things that I hadn't
noticed and I think it made things better. It wasn't much work at all, but
I wanted to wrap it up as I think people are very interested in it this
time.

Version 3 will be out in the fall and it will be very pretty. It will have
a nice background and other graphics and colours to spice it up. Until then
unless something is essential for it to work it will stay as is until then.
Let me know however, if you feel there are improvements that can be added as
I am happy to add them in with the next version. You input is critical for
this to work well.

Mike, you'll like the location and the reports :-)

In the next few weeks I will try to put some explanations/help file on the
site for you to refer to.

Thank you for being so patient :-)

Janet
