Don't give up on the Lilacs. There is one that is drought resistant and grows well especially in the panhandle of Texas and eastern New
Mexico. It takes the heat pretty well but that is it's biggest enemy. It doesn't grow as well here in Midland because of the heat. Keep
looking for different varieties. You might just find one that will grow where you are.
