When you do get new members, make them feel welcome. When I strarted my iris garden,  I joined an iris society in Nebraska, hoping to learn a lot about irises & went for two years.  NEVER did I feel included or welcome.  It was known there were little cliques in the group & allthoug they said they wanted new members, they really did not (unless you were willing to do the work in the display garden.  That help would have been welcomed by the group!)  Just venting on my past experience.
