Kitty I think you have a good idea. The North American Rock Garden Society used to ask for their membership list if you would welcome visitors to your garden. When I had my garden in good shape I always checked the box, yes. It was also advised that people call first. One day I remember getting a call from Chicago saying that a group was planning to bring a tour bus with 50 people to me garden. I had to explain that although the people were welcome I had no place to park a bus and logistically it would have been a nightmere. But in those days I regularly had people visit my garden, I even got to see pictures of it taken by visitors in books and magazines.

I can see why some wouldn't want their name/addr published, but there is a
simple way to handle this. When paying dues, there could be a check box
which said "__ I do not want my name/addr published to other members." or
something like that. It would be like having an unlisted phone number in the
phone book.
