Re: OT:CA:floods
They've closed two city streets in County seat for one day. My back patio
had 6 inches of runoff that wasn't exiting the drain until I dug a temporary
ditch, but otherwise I'm just fine. Day before yesterday it rained nearly
5 inches in 24 hours. I've seen large Oaks fall (too much wet around their
roots makes them unstable). The neighboring County where I worked has the
largest natural lake, Clearlake, it will probably exceed flood stage within
a couple of days. Hwy 101 north to Eureka is closed at Confusion hill to
slide, usually happens nearly every winter, forces traffic to drive another
4 hours to get over to I-5. Siskiyou pass on I-5 going out of Calif to
Oregon was closed to snow one day, my daughter has been watching it, she has
to go home to Oregon in a couple of days. Russian River in Sonoma County
is past flood stage in Healdsburg and Guerneville. More rain expected
today. Iris are just fine, my soil drains well.
