    I think that if you try TBs from Southern - mid  California, the idea of 
chilling rhizomes might not be necessary.  Try some  of Monty Byers' 
rebloomers - I think they may thrive for you.
    Actually, in your climate, you really should try  some Louisiana Irises.  
They are hybridized from native U.S. gulf coast  swamp plants.  They love 
warmth and wet growing conditions.  They have  proven very hardy in most 
climates, even cold ones.  They thrive here  in Southern Arizona, as long as provided 
damp growing conditions.  Some of  the best LA irises are hybridized in
