Don't we want to give our seeds no excuses not to sprout, no excuses not to grow, no excuses not to survive lining out?  Don't we just want our seedlings to be as big and tough as possible and ready to line out?

   
  That may not however be the same thing as an adult that lacks disease resistance, tolerates frost, survives in the vale, etc. which is more of a reselect criteria.
