RE: HYB:Getting ready!

Hi,.
To add to this, I saw some possible containers at
Joann fabrics. They carry an array of containers
for crating, paper and stamping or making cards
etc.

I thought about the carpenter's apron sort of
thing for hybridizing, but really thought the
ideal thing would be the kind of tray that
cigarette girls used to carry. Unfortunately,
they seem to have gone out with cigarettes, or
with cigarette girls, whichever. Then, happily, I
chanced upon a dandy little plastic fishing tackle
box, 9 1/2" tall x 9 1/2" wide x
6 1/2" deep. The top flips open easily for a top
storage compartment that carries tweezers, tags,
marking pens, measuring tape, plastic ties,
scissors, etc. The clear plastic front flips down
for access to two slide-out trays with multiple
dividers, just right for carrying pollen
containers, and a bottom compartment spacious
enough for a camera and more.
The two sides and the back are opaque, so contents
are shielded from the sun on three sides. Since I
do much of my garden work, including pollinating,
using a portable bench to save my knees, the
tackle box sits conveniently at
hand on the ground. I got mine at (dare I say
it?) Walmart. -- Griff
