It has always seemed pretty odd to me too. Additional examples - amoenas and colored or white standards over white falls with a colored band. Makes no sense at all.
<What is most puzzling is how in some plicatas and in some BC, both the carotenes and anthocyanins are synchronized and produced together in some cells and absence in other cells.
