I tried this method for labeling my orchids (indoors) and found that the paper eventually molded, making the label illegible after a couple of years. I guess they weren't quite water proof. I suspect the same thing might happen outdoors in a humid environment.

I have been trying something different for labels. I print out the names on a sheet of paper with a lazer printer. I cut the names out and apply them to plastic or metal markers with clear packing tape. I am hoping that because the paper is completely surrounded/rnclosed by the tape it will last awhile. Has anyone tried anything like this? it is cheap and I will be happy if it lasts a year but I hope it will last longer.
