Hi All,

I hate butting into these things but I think you guys are talking apples and oranges. The Plantstep program is just that a program that an individual purchases and uses for their own purposes. The wiki is an online data base that will take years to fill with all the information about Iris. If you go to wiki and look at other plants there is no reason it can not be down loaded for personal use.

I have hybridizer pro and though it has problems I can get data from the online checklist and plug it into the database. I use my own pictures or those I have permission to use. Dave's Garden has made a valiant attempt at producing a data base for all plants and it is very ambitious. But the old saying Garbage in Garbage out for data is the same now as it ever has been with talking computer data. There is little control by DG for there are too many plants and too little knowledge.

The wiki on the other hand is purposed to have iris people who check entries. THis step provides a greater measure of accuracy for the wiki than in other iris online databases including Garden Web. Tinker's garden is probably the best online database for Daylilies and I use it extensively. That is the kind of information the wiki should and could have if the time is taken to make it so.

Does this make sense?

Hope so

Happy New year to all

Anita
