The Iris Database is in its infancy. It was origianlly set up for daylilies
and a way to organize the other plants people grow. I myself and others who
have Plantstep are collaborating with the author to improve the Iris portion.
I'm sure he has others working on the Hosta section and other sections. He
had just updated the program this last week, but it did not include much in
the way of updating the Iris portion. I would expect that will be in the next
update (maybe in the Fall). Even if you don't want to purchase it now you can
consider it in the future. But I will bet as time progresses and it gets more
developed the price might go up. Purchase it now and you can contribute your
ideas to its development and get the updates which so far have been free. For
right now I have entered what data I can for the Irises under the Daylily
heading and can transfer it over to the updated Iris section when it's ready.
This allows me to keep all the information about any one particular plant in
one place and use the hybridizing matcher and create seedling records. It
really saves time thumbing through sheets of paper and referring back to
catalogs for descriptions and pictures.

<I would not like to integrate my database with any one on line.

I would agree with that. It is to important to sacrifice its integrity and
privacy.

That's scary and funny.
