OK . . . time to see just how dumb I am about genetics!!My understanding about orange is as follows: Orange is recessive. Extra recessive. By extra I mean, more difficult than pink. (which is hard enough in my area.) Only color more recessive is yellow with tangerine beard and then white with tangerine beard. White being the most recessive.
'Cordoba' X 'Summer Radiance' gave all orange. (planted 15 or so) SR is out of 'Hindenburg' X 'Lemon Reflection.' One half orange.
'Harvest of Memories' (no orange to my memory) Not even the alternate yellow, Chuck? X 'Gratuity' gave all bright yellow. Which I suspect is one step closer to orange than just plain yellow? (20 or so)
My semi-educated guess is that the 'HOM' X 'Gratuity' cross needs to cross back to orange to even have a chance of regaining the orange.
Recessive x recessive=more recessives.Linda, I'm sure this doesn't cover what you're looking for, but maybe it will give more points for discussion. Or not.
