Once upon a time, there was some discussion (hope?) that the current R&I info would be added to the online registry (which is by subscription/membership in AIS), because the printed R&I could go to print on demand, thus not leaving AIS stuck with a bill for printed copies that couldn't be sold. 

Whatever happened with that?
Having access to current pedigree information would increase my likelihood of buying newer introductions. I get to "cheat" because I help proof read the new R&Is, get an electronic copy, so I can search for various cultivars in pedigrees, but it seems like a service that others would like.
