central Florida during last week of January. Does anyone have an
recommendations for gardens to see in that area? I'll be
headquartered near Orlando...but will be able to travel in any
direction for, say, 3 hours by car. Of course, I'd like to see irises
in bloom...Louisianas specifically...but I realize that might be
asking too much! Thanks for any ideas. Feel free to answer by
personal email. <<
You might try Cypress Gardens (Cypress Gardens, FL) or Bok Tower
Gardens (Lake Wales, FL). They're about 1/2 to 1 hour drive southwest
of Orlando. Cypress Gardens is mostly tropicals, to my recollection.
Both camillas and azaleas should be blooming. Sugar Mills Gardens and
the Spruce Creek Preserve (more nature-oriented) are near Daytona
Beach. There is an orchid garden in the Orlando area, but I'm not
sure of the name. Hope this helps.
