Re: Youth Classes



It seems to me that the "Rules and Regulations" would allow a youth to
enter any class (if by classes is meant the seedling class, the English
box, collection or other classes). What the "R & R" seems to prohibit is
an entry by a youth, (or a not-youth for that matter) from entering both
the adult and the youth divisions when each division has the classes.

Maybe I'm just talking about terminology here. I agree that youth should
achieve as often as possible. I think that with someone like Andy Wheeler,
with his committment to all things Iris, he could very well compete with
the adults. I would be concerned about the Iris-challenged among the youth,
and would like to see a level playing field for them.

I could be persuaded otherwise...

I question the reason of the Horticultural Division's limitation.  If a
youth member is capable of competing, why shouldn't s/he be able to enter
any or all classes?  I'm not suggesting elimination of youth classes and
their special status, just the forced choice of one or the other.  Let these
kids achieve as often as possible.
