That's not a characteristic I have been paying attention to, and they all
dead right now, Graham! : ). I have been walking around looking at the
nubbins of leaves, but if you will just hang on a few months (spring!), I
will post something. I can see that a few look like they have purple bases.
Most of my varieties are more than a few years old - are you mostly
iterested in recent intros or is stuff from mid-80's and older of interest?
Do you know if this trait comes from one ancestral species or variety?
