Disconnecting Russia sounds drastic, but they have been deluging the network
over there with spam and junk.
The excuse we have been given here by AOL UK's MD is that around the world,
tens of thousands of kids got new PCs with modems for Xmas and are all
plugging them in at once, with inevitable results!! Also, here in UK AOL have
been giving away their software free on the front of magazines to encourage
people to join them (it works - I did!) - so loads more subscribers. The
whole system here goes down for about 4 hours a week (sometimes more) so they
can plug in more modems at HQ. Problem is that they choose to do this at 4am
EST - which is 9am here - just when I want to use the system!
I'm sticking with them for now, but may change to BT Internet - any of you UK
list members using BTI?? If so, what they like??
