Arilbreds in the East

Sharon, in the East we have wet summers and, for the most part, clay soil.
Most arilbreds, like the arils, really require much better drainage than we
cannot provide without extraordinary efforts.  Some such as ONLOOKER and
SYRIAN MOON respond to our conditions better than others, but special care is
required even for these to thrive.  One can succeed with many arilbreds in
the East, but it takes a lot of effort.  My best success has been when I grow
arilbreds in pots, and protected from rain during summer, fall and winter.
