Some clarification:
There is no "list of acceptable topics". The policy on this is in the
welcome message, and it has never been changed. Basically, ANY iris-related
subject is always acceptable. General gardening stuff is fine too. The only
rule regarding off-topic discussion is that everyone remember the list is
supposed to be about irises, and use common sense to make sure the list
does not drown in off-topic chatter.
There are a few totally off-topic subject areas that I consider detrimental
to the functioning of the list, and which I try to nip in the bud. These
include personal attacks, profanity, political or religious argument,
non-iris advertising, and the various internet spam/chain letter sort of
stuff.
Although some topics may be perfectly "acceptable" on the list, individuals
are of course entitled to take them off-list if they prefer.
Happy irising, Tom.
