This is my theory on the price differential, also. As for differences:
1st ed. (N.Y. : Universe Books, 1981) xvii, 202 p., 16 p. of black and
white plates, 16 p. of colored plates. Dust jacket features pix of I.
korolkowii and I. meda.
"2nd" ed. ( London : B.T. Batsford, reprinted with revisions, 1989) xvii,
215 p., 16 p. of black and white plates, 16 p. of colored plates. Dust
jacket features pix of I. stolonifera and I. bucharica.
The essential difference is a 13 p. "Addendum" in the 1989 printing, and
corresponding updating of the index. AND, different pix on the dust jackets!
(The interior pix are the same in both)
I'll also add my congrats and good wishes on the publication of your book,
Bill! Please keep us informed.
