I would say it depends - around here, spreading them out in a shed or on a
sheltered porch would be ok for a couple of months. The humidity in the air
would keep them nice and fat until they were planted. Potting them in the
shade and watering them would probably bring on a good case of rot. I have
'found' dropped pieces of rhizome that sat on the porch for 5 months or more
that did fine when planted. (Probably wouldn't be true for FEATURE
ATTRACTION though.)
