Do you recall how long they took to germinate and whether they were
fresh or dried?
My seeds were from the British Iris Society seed exchange BIS 351 so
that they were not really fresh. I planted then last spring and some
germinated early and are now in the outdoor seed bed. The ones that are
in doors germinated just too late to plant outside - October. I still
keep the pot and probably a few more will germinate in spring, after
which I will discard it.
Without keeping absolutely meticulous records, I have found that
stratification has not given me any additional germination over popping
the seeds in a pot and waiting. This is based on about 100 species or
varieties but relatively few TB. Sometimes, I plant directly into the
seedbed, especially my own seeds, and little or nothing appears.
