Around here, a lot of tall bearded iris plants get swapped and bought in full
bloom - the existing blooms don't tolerate that kind of treatment very well,
but it doesn't hurt bloom the following year.

If you can find some iris to plant right now before serious spring growth
starts and can transplant them without damaging the roots (either with a big
chunk of soil or maybe bare root from very sandy soil) and 'mud' them in,
they should do ok. They will possibly need some supplemental water if you
have any week long dry spells. The later you move them, the more likely they
will be to suffer from it in bloom this spring. Rhizomes at the 'marts right
now that have been sitting around in stasis in their baggies won't have time
to develop the existing potential blooms to make it this spring - my guess
anyway.

So the choice is - gamble on some bloom this spring and maybe waste some
effort for nothing, or wait for bloom till next year.
