Asthmatics actually wouldn't necessarily want to be at a higher altitude
(with less oxygen) and they do better with humid air. The dryness helps
because it keeps vegetation and molds to which asthmatics are often
allergic down. Asthmatics do *not* do well with cold dry air and it can
cause asthma especially upon exertion. The Phoenix area was ideal until
folks started to irrigate and bring in non-native vegetation, and the
population caused a tremendous amount of pollution in the valley.
