One of my childhood friends got all wound up over the name NIGHT AFFAIR. You
just never know what's going to set people off.

This sounds like the kind of damage that was identified earlier on this list
as cricket munching. Although the overnight anhilation would have to be
awfully big crickets! I don't know why STEPPING OUT might be more tasty to
crickets or other varmints, but that does help explain (maybe) why it is so
prone to rot here.
