Many folks on the Iris-LIST are also on the Daylily Robin, an official
function of the Am. Hemerocallis Society, and know that when this news hit that email
Robin, within days following the publication hitting their mailbox,
the matter had been brought to the attention of Abbey
Press that the only official and "legal" naming of daylilies can be done
through the AHS, and that Abby Press has caused great confusion over naming
rights. Abbey Press apologized and will try to rectify their error.
The amazing thing to me was the speed at which this matter was handled as
a result of discussion on the email by an official organ representing the
whole of the AHS.
The public is STILL unsuspecting, however, and will not be less confused by
any statement by Abbey Press. The damage is done, and AHS will have to
deal with it for a long time.
