Yes, I joined this list prior to AIS. Members of the IRIS-L such as
Clarence Mahan and Mike Lowe referred me to Claire Honkanen, former
Regional VP for my AIS Region V. She in turn, invited me to the 1996
spring regional meeting and went out of her way to make me feel welcomed as
did others at the 1996 Region V Spring Regional. Clarence Mahan happened
to be giving judges training on Japanese Irises, which I attended at this
meeting. Two weeks later I visited Clarence and Suky at their home in
Washington, DC while on a business trip. Clarence's generosity with some
of his irises gave me a quick iris fix which got me through until irises
were available locally in July. While at Clarence's I was able to see for
the first time in my life many of the other types of irises which exist in
addition to tall beardeds. All of this began with the IRIS-L and I was off
and running in the world of irises.

Thanks again to all of you on the IRIS-L that have fed my iris addiction! :)
Please keep on indulging the newcomers and answering those all important
first questions when new list members go out on a limb to ask them. Only a
few more days to go until the birthday of IRIS-L!!!!!
