When we lived in NM we had our I.unguicularis in the ground. One in full
sunlight one in 4 hrs sun. they both bloomed but full sun bloomed heavy!
Both were watered on an automatic system that watered three times a week
for two hours each session. I never thought or knew it needed to be on
the dry side. Here in NE both my potted and in the ground plants were
watered often all summer. The potted one is watered once or twice a week
in the sun room. It started blooming in the fall (I'll have to look up
the date,Can't remember if it was Halloween or later) It is still
blooming!
