Day 3 of ice storm here. After restoring power to all but 1000 homes in
the region, last night's storm knocked out power to another 30,000
homes. Schools remain closed. Road conditions are much improved as
weather is turning colder and freezing rain is expected to turn to snow
by noon but freezing rain expected again tomorrow morning. However,
many roads are blocked by either downed hydro lines or trees. Walking
is hazardous as tree branches plummet from the weight of ice. Regional
councillors are debating whether to declare a state of emergency.
But we are better off than Montreal who has an entire substation shut
down. Over 800,000 homes are without power and it is expected to take
more than two days to repair. I wonder how Tony Huber is doing.

Ottawa, Canada -- with power for the moment.
