If by "Zebra" you are referring to the commonly grown form of pallida with
the creamy yellow leaf variegation, then its correct name as found in the
'39 Checklist is PALLIDA VARIEGATA. "Zebra" is only a "street name" for
this iris - it has never been registered as such with the AIS. I am sure
that the ZEBRA you are referring to is a completely different iris. There
an iris of that name listed in the '39 Checklist, but the entry is quite
terse. It includes the name Harrison and the year 1937, but does not even
mention the class or color of the iris. This ZEBRA is listed as not
introduced.
 
As for the proper classification of PALLIDA VARIEGATA, the '39 Checklist
labels it as a TB, and that is how it grows for me. It certainly does not
have the characteristics of an MTB.
