Hi to all listers
Arabi Pasha:
Not doing very well at keeping up with the discussion here. Just wanted to add
that I grow Arabi Pasha (the TB) and find it to be a so-so plant. If you want
a good blue self from that period (late forties - early fifties) I still
reckon that you would be hard pushed to beat Blue Rhythm (Whiting 1945) or
possibly Jane Phillips (Graves 1947). Both are superbly scented.
Arabi Pasha is fairly widely available over here, but Bronze King (the xiphium
for which Arabi Pasha is a synonym) does not appear in the Plant Finder.
Sad News:
Talking of the Plant Finder, I have heard that Chris Philip who devised and
for many years compiled this most useful of reference books, died at the
weekend after an illness. He will be sadly missed, but the legacy that he
leaves is a great one.
Back to lurkdom on another grey and damp morning - fed up with rain -
waterlogging a serious problem in our fields.
