Some Opuntias are very hardy and adaptable plants. I'm not finding the
species name in Hortus III, but there is definitely a prickly-pear that is
native to the Northeast. A friend of mine grows them in New Hampshire, and
they are a very rare wildflower here. If they can handle -20F here, I think
they would be worth a try in Denmark.
