While reading the posts about the naming of Iris,
I was thinking, if a person was growing Japanese
Iris, they could get an Japanese to English book and
name them Japanese names! I know I do this for my
Japanese Bobtail cats!

Hey Dennis.... the Japanese beat us to it!! Japanese Iris hybridizing has
been going on for centuries in Japan -
Clarence Mahan has been deligently importing named JI's and registering them
with AIS once he's verfied that the names are true (I'm unsure if the Japanese
have as strict a registration process as we do, so the naming of JI's may be a
bit more casual in Japan).
Kathy Guest.... who is glad that Clarence also provides a translation of the
Japanese name so that I have a prayer of pronouncing SOMETHING right.
