OT: Iris-L Birthday

Feb 1st is rolling around again. Time for another Iris-L Birthday chat.

For those of you who have joined since our first birthday party, the
Iris-L was first opened by our inimitable (though awfully quiet these
days) list owner Tom T, Little for testing on Febuary 1st, 1996, and for
actual use on Feb 2d. I recall last year Tom commented that "Five people
joined the first day. I remember being scared that the whole thing might
fizzle out during the first week." Little did he know (please, no pun
intended).

Tom has asked if I would see to the details of setting up the chat. So I
am proposing that the birthday chat be Sunday evening February 1st at
5PM PST (6PM MST, 7PM CST, 8PM EST) ( In Austrailia it will be Monday
morning 11AM in Adelaide, 8AM in Sydney - I think).

We will be using the Chat server managed by Iris-l friend Rod Venger. He
has graciously hosted our chat channel for almost a year now.

There were some difficulties last year for AOL users because at that
time AOL wouldn't let their users get to non-AOL chat sites. That
problem seems to have been fixed although I don't think an AOL user has
ever joined out regular Fri nite chat.

If you would like to join the birthday chat and have never chatted
before, please let me know (mail me at jijones@ix.netcom.com) and I will
help you get set up. It is very easy and lots of fun.

If you have any sugestions or comments please let me know.

So mark your calendars, get your party hats, streamers and poppers lined
up, and and plan to bring a treat to share. I am going to bring a new
form of iris developed by my friend Joanne - its called an MCI -
Minature Chocolate Iris. Boy are they yummy. So lets "Parrrrrrrr - t"
