OT: first water

If I recall correctly, this is a term from distilling, in which the "first
water" (the first alcohol to come over the condenser) is the purest and
finest.  Later "waters" may be contaminated with other molecules as the
distilling temperature fluctuated.

Could be wrong--any other ideas?
