The description in Grosvenor's catalogue is:
Fantastic, rich, ruffled purple flowers with purple beards. Perfect show
spikes and great growth habits.
Without wishing to make any of the northern-hemisphere listers envious....I
will merely comment that I was sent 2 rhizomes of this as extras with my
order in December.
Grosvenor has a '98 intro called NEW CHALLENGE which has the same SILVERADO
x DUSKY CHALLENGER parentage, and is described as:
Lovely royal purple with blue-violet beards. Flowers are well ruffled and
spikes are show quality. No-one was surprised when this iris followed up
its sister seedling Temptone's success by winning the Alan Johnson
Hybridiser's Medallion.
Bruce, since I need to contact Graeme Grosvenor anyway, I will follow up
your question, and e-mail you privately.
