I read of this setosa form in two Dr. Rodionenko's popular book in russian.
He compare setosas growing in continental parts of Siberia - Yakutia and
maritime domains and note that first had mach more short period of
vegetation than second. He mention two forms collected in 1984 by
V.M.Reinwald: Iris setosa forma grandiflora Reinwald growing near
Vladivostok at the coast of Lazurnaya bay and Iris setosa forma marmoreus
Reinwald from Kamchatka. They must be in collection of Dr.Rodionenko but I
didn't see them.

By the way, Kathy,
did you try in yours garden Iris laevigata? Its natural areal in Siberia
extend along Lena river till 65 altitude almost near Cold Pole of Northern
hemisphere.

Juri,
Moscow, Russia
