Hi everyone,
I just thought I'd pass on some inside information that I
received today direct from the author himself.
Graeme Grosvenor says that to the best of his knowledge, there is
currently no way for US customers to buy the book, other than direct from
him, or through the AIS. He is aware that Barnes and Noble, etc. claim to
be offering the book at a discounted price, but says that wherever they may
think they can get stocks from, it isn't from him or the Australian publisher.
Grosvenor in fact has a deal with the publisher to prevent them
selling the book to any book companies in the US before 1999. (Schreiners
will also be offering it in 1999.)
I also asked him whether, as previously suggested to me, the first
printing has sold out, and he said that while it has been selling well, he
still has plenty of copies available, as does the publisher.
So, my advice is: if you want to see the book this year, cancel any
order with B&N, etc. and order direct!
For those interested in TEMPTONE, Grosvenor said that he has sent it
to Schreiners, but he doesn't know if they plan ever to offer it for sale.
As for ordering irises from Australia, the costs involved are as
follows:
Cost of inspection and health certificate $98
Airmail: approx. $3 per rhizome. (The actual price varies according to the
size of the rhizome.)
All prices are in Australian dollars (currently $1 Australian = $0.66 US
approx.)
If you think that sounds expensive, you should hear the cost of importing
irises from the US into Australia!!
