Greetings,
Because I have received inquiries at this office on this subject, I would like
to ask the members of the list to tell me what they know about commercial
purveyors of SPECIES iris plants. I would like to identify sources for
beardless, bearded, crested, and bulbous irises, and I am intersted in large
and also smaller operations, either here, in Canada, or in the UK, but I am
not interested in seeds at this time.
I would like to hear from members of the various AIS Sections about good
sources for species, and, as always, for antique hybrid cultivars. If your
section has a designated species or historic cultivar guru, I would like to
have this name.
At this moment, for instance, I have an inquiry about for I. suaveolens, a
dwarf bearded species, and, while I have some intuitions about whom to ask
about it, I don't have a formal source in the files yet. Yesterday I had to
deal with an I. variegata request, which was lot easier.
Thank you very much.
