HYB: CULT: icky worms

A couple of pods & stalks crashed & rotted overnight (well, I've got the
flu, so maybe it happened yesterday) & when I brought them in to clean
the seeds up, I discovered tiny little black-headed caterpillar style
larvae of some sort. They are about 1/4 inch (~5 cm) long, with
semi-transparent whitish/green (maybe the green is gut content) bodies,
& little black beetle larvae style heads.

Or they were, before I squished them.

Anybody have guesses as to what these might be and suggestions for
"benign" prevention next year? The less rotted pod had an entry hole -
would dormant oil probably keep these guys out? If so, would I have to
reapply every time it rains. Sure did do a number on some of the seeds,
but mostly they seemed to be eating the pulp.
