You can also protect inkjet printed labels with a clear protective overlay
film. If you would like a source email me privately. Also I would echo
the previous post from Mike Greenfield, only use black. The colors will
fade within months.
If you want colors there is a wonderful desktop printer made by ALPS that
uses a thermal transfer technology. I have some color labels over 2 years
old that look great.
