I have had a goodly number of TB's bloom the next year in pots. Of course we're talking mature sized rhizomes and 1 gallon pots. In fact, I've had better 'luck' with the TB's blooming than the medians. The only things I've noticed with the potted iris is the increase is not as heavy as the ones in the ground, and the severity/mildness of the climate is accentuated for the potted ones. For example, our last winter was very mild, but whatever cold we had really got to affect the pots, so they had a really good year whereas the ones in the ground were not as florific because they d/n feel the cold as much.
I have one 1 gallon pot that has 5 bloom seasons under its belt (name unknown - so I forget about it). The plants are alive, but stopped blooming after 2nd season, and increase is null. I wouldn't recommend long term potting in 1 gallon pots. I have three huge pots, like big trees come in (20 gallon +). where I keep some of my Arilbreds and TB's. They do just fine. Just remember to water them occassionally, as they do not have the retentive properties of the ground.
Hope this helped.

Hello again,
Since it's a separate subject from my last post, I'll do this
...er...separately.
I mentioned that I'm transporting lots in pots from my garden and new
arrivals and since I'll still be considerably pregnant into DEcember, I'm
wondering what my chances are that some will bloom in the pots. How often
have ya'll had potted up plants bloom the spring after being potted, while
still in the pots? I think I saw one mention of this recently but I'm
wondering how often it happens for a listload of irisarians. I'd guess
SDB's or even MTB's might be fine, but what about TB's? And further, what's
the longest you had an iris in a pot and it bloomed consistently regardless?
