Hi Mark et al,
I remember many years ago when my husband was RVP of AIS Region 6, the
regional meeting was held in a hotel and had a cash bar before the banquet.
Our two teenagers and one or two other children were present, but none were
served any alcohol. Shortly after the meeting, we received a letter from
Japanese iris hybridizer Art Hazzard and his wife criticizing the fact that
drinks were served while children were present. Although the local club that
hosted the meeting had made the arrangements for the cash bar without
consulting the RVP, my husband sent a nice reply to the Hazzards, apologizing
for the lack of foresight. You really must be sensitive to all the members'
feelings, even though they can choose to drink or not.
