Re: Re:OT:ALCOHOL AT IRIS FUNCTIONS

I want to warn all of you NOT to serve alcohol at any kind of garden function.

Our club, the Farmville Area Roto Tillers, made the mistake of making a
fifth of Virginia Gentleman available before the program at one of our
meetings. The slide show of various forms of damage to oaks caused by lawn
equipment was completely disrupted by unruly, drunken members shouting the
worst kind of obscenities.

After the meeting, two of our members were arrested for "streaking" the
Winn Dixie at the Southgate Shopping Plaza, and one other passed out on the
courthouse lawn after smashing all the mailboxes on Third St. with a
croquet mallet. I know of at least one divorce that was a direct outgrowth
of that meeting.

The club has since disbanded, and the acrimony over how to dispose of the
treasury ($34.56) ended a long friendship between the president and the
treasurer.

Please think of the children!

PLEASE NOTE THE CHANGE IN MY EMAIL ADDRESS, EFFECTIVE JULY 12, 2000, AS
SHOWN BELOW. HOWEVER, THE OLD ADDRESS WILL CONTINUE TO WORK UNTIL MAY,
2001.
