Re: OT: iris-list lurking

My suspicion is that thoughts like this occur to some quite
experienced gardeners. I often feel thay way myself. However,
I tend to pitch out the questions anyway. I believe there are so
many varied conditions for gardening that it sometimes comes
to deciding which parts apply in a given case. E.g., dry, hot
conditions vs. humid, rainy hot conditions; acid based loam vs.
hardpan clay. An experienced, knowledgeable gardener who
has only had to deal with only what is in their growing spot may
not be able to address everything. But a portion of their shared
experience may be useful and applicable. I suspect many lurkers
may have more to offer than they realize. Walter Moores and I
both have hot weather conditions, but the rest of our gardening
conditions are likely very different. It is considerably different
even in Dallas 100 miles east than in spot of Texas. It is even
different in town with buildings and more concrete than out on
my exposed hill in the country. Different quantities of bugs, too.

So to lurkers: go ahead and share your experiences. Your successes
and failures under your conditions may help someone else. It's your
common sense and gardening instincts that are so valuable. I pay
attention to all the advice, then try to make it fit for what I think will
work for me as a gardener. I only wish it were so easy so that any
expert could say do this and it will work!

survived both in the past, but it can't be good for them.
